Dr. Joseph Sheppard
Over the course of my medical education I have been interested in how to make primary care more affordable. In medical school I began writing a blog about medical economics, titled Free Market Physician, where I explored and began developing many of these ideas that led me to establish an insurance-free practice. I am particularly indebted to the physicians of the Atlas MD Clinic in Wichita, Kansas. They coached me in the membership model that I have implemented. It has been exciting to offer Free Market Physician in Neosho as an alternative to the traditional delivery of healthcare.
My residency training is in Springfield from 2011-2014 as part of the Cox Family Practice Residency. This program trains its residents to practice full-scope medicine. While in Springfield I was chosen as a 2014 Runner-up for Top Family Practice Doctor in Springfield by 417 Magazine. (I mention this not to brag, but to reassure patients who are curious about the new doctor in town.)
I am married, have four boys and one little girl. My family and I enjoy fishing, camping, and being outdoors in the beautiful Ozark scenery.
